Organization
SPARTA
SPARTA is an independent, cross-class space (located in room 216) that hosts lectures, workshops, and student projects. The SPARTA team, consisting of two students (excluding guest or secondary listeners), is elected every two semesters and is responsible for organizing SPARTA's activities. sparta is organized by the students Emma Bieck, Judith Heinemann and Xiaoyao Xu.
At the heart of SPARTA is a lecture series related to the relevant discourse of the different classes, which is opened to a wider audience. Approximately 12 times per semester, a talk takes place. Invited are artists, theorists, and curators who provide insights into their practice or give lectures on a specific topic. The lectures take place in room 216 in person or as a video broadcast. Speakers will be selected by the SPARTA team based on suggestions from the student body. These suggestions can be sent to sparta [at] kunstakademie-duesseldorf.de.
In addition, SPARTA serves as a venue for student events such as open colloquia, film nights, listening sessions, reading groups, language workshops, and more. SPARTA works closely with AStA to ensure that current university-wide issues, such as the call for a climate-conscious university or issues of equality, are incorporated into the lecture series.
